At Rs 2,590, the Galaxy Fit-e is a smartwatch-cum-health tracker that aims to tackle other low-cost health bands flooding the markets, mainly the Xiaomi Mi Band and the Honor Band
South Korean electronics maker Samsung recently launched in India a set of its new wearable gadgets, including its first price range-centric Galaxy Fit-e. At Rs 2,590, the Galaxy Fit-e is a smartwatch-cum-health tracker that goals to take on other low-cost fitness bands flooding the markets, especially the Xiaomi Mi Band and the Honor Band.
Here’s how the Galaxy Fit-e fares as a health band:
Aesthetics
The band’s minimalist appearance is a plus. Even with a heart rate screen and multiple other sensors, it weighs just 15 grams. It is straightforward to forget that you have the band strapped to your wrist on maximum activities. The silicon strap is neat and feels gentle. You have three coloration selections — black, white, and yellow. The band is water-resistant, as much as 5ATM/50 meters, so that you can take a bath or maybe go swimming with it.

It has a 0.74-inch monochrome 64×218 decision PMOLED display screen, which you could wake up by way of both lifting your wrist or with a double-tap on the display screen, or both. You get your notifications on the panel, although you may want your cellphone to reply to them. The panel is rather small; however good sufficient to follow time and stats. However, it’s miles a touch tough to peer the display in huge daylight for lack of brightness. Another trouble is that the band comes in one popular size, which may fit a few but no longer.
Features and overall performance
Samsung Galaxy Fit-e fulfills all the bare necessities of a health band and a few greater. You can music steps, sleep, heart charge, energy burnt, and get cellphone’s notifications, too. The band is well-matched with Android and iOS, so it really works with most smartphones. However, for it to work, you want to download two separate apps — Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health.
The band has a 70 mAh battery, which keeps it going for a minimum of four days. While the on-battery time is ideal, the charging leaves you wanting extra. The band does away with the wireless charging feature in its elder sibling Samsung Galaxy Fit. However, like with different bands within the phase, you get a charging cable without an adapter; it charges the band in around 90 mins. This is whilst you operate the band with a coronary heart price sensor set to reveal your heartbeat continuously.

The Galaxy Fit-e lacks GPS and tracks distance using your smartphone, which you want to carry while you run. That might be inconvenient to a few. While the whole non-GPS component may affect the accuracy of stats, the discrepancy needs to be minimal — I determined as a substitute correct readings for my walks. Don’t depend too much on the heart fee analyzing, though. The band’s over-dependence on apps for customization and in-depth stats is irksome.
The sleep evaluation is a simple one, so do not assume too much on that front. At first-rate, you get the actual time you spent snoozing. At worst, you get the entire hours of nap.
There is a string of widgets, including steps, calories, heart fee, weather, and calendar. You can customize those you want on your band and in what order. I, in reality, appreciated the ‘discover my band’ function, which lighting fixtures up the band’s display and makes it vibrate so you can easily discover your band.
Verdict
At 2,590, the Samsung Galaxy Fit is a no-frills fitness band best for beginners and people who want a fundamental evaluation of their fitness and sporting activities.
